Hobbiworx Collecticon remains remains the biggest and best collectible auction event in the Philippines. Collecticon 2016 definitely brings together tons of auction hauls from rare stuff toys, toy figures, previously owned items and more. The event also brings together toy exhibitors and sellers from around the metro to offer discounted prices to everyone.
Collecticon and Auction
For many years now, Collecticon made its name because there are no other events that could match its vast auction. The auctioned items are placed right in front of the stage. Almost all items start at a bid of just one peso. Imagine, you could purchase a toy which originally cost thousands for just a few hundreds of pesos.
Collecticon is not too much about cosplay and anime although the event also includes them in the program. In fact, they even have a KPop segment during the second day. The distinction really is how Hobbiworx was able to bring together these exhibitors and the massive haul for auction. We have to give it to the organizers of this awesome and unique event.
Exhibitors and Booths
There were tons of toys. comics and everything collectible. This event lives it up to it’s name that when you go here you will be able to find something that is worth collecting. Independent artists are present and you can ask for commission drawings for a very affordable price. We were also able to meet with Pockets Fulla Pillz artist and their team which is bringing out something very timely – a drug related comics series.
Big and massive size toys were also present. Halimaw Toys, Die Cast Metals, Bandai, Gunpla and Jerry’s Life Size Statues were also there. I know you would say there are other better events that this one but if you want to get really close and personal with the guys behind these booths then this is the event.
Cosplay at Collecticon 2016
Characters from DOTA, Assasins Creed, anime, games and more are also present during the event. Twenty-four cosplayers joined the cosplay competition which was judged by veteran cosplayers and members of the community. It was a pretty good number despite the fact that the event coincide with an anime-themed event. Izaiah Luke Buelos and Bolen Lareza were declared as Best Male and Best Female cosplayers respectively.
