It was in September 2015 that we have seen a new kind of convention launching in the Philippines through AsiaPop Comicon 2015. It seems APCC 2015 had indeed proven that they are the biggest popular culture convention this year. With thousands of guests flocking into the convention despite the worried price of the event, it seems there is indeed tons of good things to see for congoers in APCC 2015.
Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH) covered the event through members of the organization which includes Cyrus Joshua, Ferrari Lacon, EJ Ayalde and Amalthea Corvus just to name a few. We were provided with complimentary pass by the PR agency and also talked to Christopher Soh in order to cover the event. We are thankful that we are given this opportunity.
APCC 2015 was held at World Trade Center in Pasay City and unlike other events food booths were located outside of the venue. Our NCPH Team Member, Ferrari Lacson cited that there were no baggage area for cosplayers but only for guests and contestants, well this is very common among all events and we do hope that there would be soon so that it would be easier to cosplay.
The event was really one of a kind and of an international caliber as it fills the venue not only with international cosplayers and artists but with large scale replicas of heroes we love including Iron Man and the Hulk Buster. Event participants can get a photo taken at the Hulkbuster as long as they but a shirt worth P500 and if you want to have a photo delivered to your inbox or printed photo, you just have to pay P50 and P250 respectively.
World Trade Center indeed is a good venue for events of this kind and won’t recommend any other venue for such an event as big as this. The place is perfect for their statues and other stuff. The artists were also very friendly and open for photo ops with fans.
We just hope that next time security would be better as there was a report that a VIP guest Amanda Seyd. lose her tablet. Though this is very unfortunate things like this usually happen in big events and we are advising both the guests, the participants and the organizers to indeed invest in security.
