Attack-On-Titan-Live-Action-Part-1 (4)Despite some negative reviews and some heated arguments about the changes in the Attack on Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) Live Action, it still remains to be a must see for both fans and the general public.  Some would say they change Eren and Mikasa, they removed Levi and it is totally different.

We would say yes, it is indeed different and you should regard this movie as one totally separate from the anime.  So why did Eren’s character change?  We found out that it was Attack on Titan creator, Hajime Isayama’s idea.

“Please change Eren’s character,” Isayama pleaded of the writers. “He’s not that sympathetic as a shōnen manga hero. …I want him to be an ordinary youngster who gets paralyzed with fear when he sees a titan.” – according to an article published at iDigitalTimes.

Meanwhile, the removal of Levi was mainly because he is a non-Japanese character.    Here is an excerpt from the same news article.

So in regards to Levi’s character being excluded from the Attack on Titan live-action movie, according to Machiyama, the Japanese setting made the inclusion of the katakana “vu” in one’s name stick out too much, as no Japanese name would normally include that character.

And since this version of the story will take place in Japan and take on a more Japanese tone the producers didn’t want to cast Japanese actors in Caucasian roles. It was easier to just omit the character than to change Levi’s name all together.

Despite these issues which had circulated online for quite sometime the premiere of SNK Live Action was full packed and in fact some of the audience are already standing.

If you are not convinced with why this movie should be a must watch and what to expect from Attack on Titan Live Action, here is a movie review from OtakuPlay –
