NCPH invites you to SPINNING MANILA: JPOP LIVE!
It’s that time of the year when Japan Foundation Manila brings to the country exciting and awesome idols from Japan and this time they are bringing Diana Garnet, Joe Inoue and THE BEATMOTORS to hold Spinning Manila: J-Pop Live! concert on February 28 at Whitespace Manila.
Naruto Cosplayers PH is one of the official Japanese Pop Culture Community partner for the event. The event starts at five in the afternoon, Whitespace Manila along Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City. Admission to the concert is free, but online registration, which is open from January 12 at noon, is required at http://spinningmanila.eventbrite.com.
Diana Garnet is the singer behind the hit single Spinning World, the closing theme for Naruto Shippuden. Diana is a US-born recording artist whose life-long passion for anime propelled her to achieve her dream of becoming a singer in Japan. In the process, she also mastered the Japanese language. In 2013, she won Nihon TV’s singing contest for foreigners, Nodojiman THE WORLD, which paved the way for her debut album COVER ☆ GIRL.
We will also witness the return of our beloved, Joe Inoue. He is a Japanese singer born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where he grew up in an environment filled with music and manga. In 2007, he debuted with his first EP titled IN A WAY. He is best known for CLOSER, which was used as the opening theme for Naruto Shippuden.
Completing the lineup is the upcoming band THE BEATMOTORS composed of Masahi Akiba, Tetsuro Kimura, Johnny Yanagawa, and Takahiro Shikano. Their music was described as systematically simple with a bit of an edge that makes their live performances shine.
To the young and the forever-young, Japan is almost synonymous with anime, manga, and the distinctly kawaii~ (cute) and kakkoii~ (cool) pop culture that covers everything from music to fashion. At Spinning Manila: J-Pop Live! enjoy the Japanese-flavored upbeat music in your best cosplay garb.
OTHER EVENTS FROM JAPAN FOUNDATION MANILA
Aside from the concert, there are two other things to get excited about. There’s the Facebook Cosplay Photo Contest to be launched second week of January. Also, all three artists will make an appearance at the JFM’s annual event showcasing Japanese language, arts and culture: Nihongo Fiesta 2016, on February 27 (Saturday) at Shangri-La Plaza.
Spinning Manila: J-Pop Live! is supported by Canon Marketing (Philippines), and media partners Hero TV and WhenInManila.com, with special thanks to Cosplay Café, Cosplay PH, Naruto Cosplayers PH and Otaku Asia.
Please use the official hashtag #JPopLive and #JFmanila when posting about the event.
Featured Japanese Band : Traditional + Rock = Wagakki Band
It was March of 2013 when Wagakki Band was established. They are called as “The New Sensation Rock Entertainment Band”. Which consist of 7 musicians and the singer Yuko Suzuhana with her mystic voice deftly fuses traditional Japanese instruments with contemporary rock. The result is that strong oriental music, it’s like you want to dance while wearing a kimono.
Impact that nobody has ever seen. Brilliant and Strong. The miraculous fusion of Rock band and Traditional performing arts. Authentic expression of music originated from japan. – wagakkiband.jp
Their first appearance live with the current members was August 17, 2013 at Nico Nico Master 2 Uta to Ensou no Saiten. Their cover song Senbonzakura posted on Youtube was reviewed more than 22 million.

Wagakki Band became one of the known band around the world and did a lot of original and cover songs. Their latest release “Hangeki no Yaiba”, the theme song for the ‘Attack on Titan’, TV drama was more that what I am expecting. Traditional and rock music still exist but singer Yuko Suzuhana is not wearing a kimono and their drummer Wasabi is wearing a T-Shirt (which is not typical for him)

On September 2, 2015 their 2nd album will be released “Yaso – Emaki” and on September 12, 2015 they will be on the road starting at Club Citta’ Kawasaki City for their “1st Japan Tour 2015”. Based on their official website the tickets for the tour is already “SOLD OUT”.
