Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2019: Asobu is planning to have 3 art related competition for this year under ART ATTACK.  The drawing competitions are for everyone interested in showcasing their talents through traditional and/or digital artwork. This competition aims to discover talents in design and the arts.

Ready to show off your art to the world?  We are inviting all artists to participate and join.

This is an online competition open until April 30, 2019. Help us create a captivating logo and team for Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2020.  What do you think should be the theme?  What should the logo look like?  Share it to us by means of your design.


May 18, 2019 – Saturday.  We challenge you to create a 4-page comic with the title and short story.  The comics can be a fan fiction of an anime or you can create your own story and impress us.


May 19, 2019 – Sunday. We are inviting all amateur artists to join our TRADITIONAL ON-THE-SPOT ART CONTEST on May 19 . Click here to see the mechanics and guidelines.

for the Audience

POF 2018 Animazing Race

Follow the anime characters and clues through our various event exhibitors, booths and personalities.  The person with the most number of accomplished tasks per day will get a surprise prize from the organizers.

Are you ready to sing a song once you are called?  This competition will select random members of the audience to sing a song selected from a pre-determined list.  All you have to do is sing and follow the lyrics.  Our judges will determine the ultimate winner.

Patterned from the game, “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” the contestant needs to answer a series of questions and reach the main question at the end.  He will be given 3 lifelines by the host of the contest: Call your Homie, 50/50 and Let the Audience Shout.


You might know the lyrics of the song but would you still recognize the song if you will ask to guess that song by just giving its tune?

POF Game Challenges
for Teams & Otaku Groups


Competing teams will battle it out for the ultimate knowledge in Anime.  This game is divided into categories with varying level of difficulty and points.  The more difficult the question the higher the points.  Team with the highest number of points at the end of the game wins.


Are you ready to win the ultimate cash prize by selecting the right number from our 15 COSPLAYERS or will you agree to the deal by our mysterious Otaku Banker?


You are competing with other Otakus to have the most number of the correct answer in a battle of knowledge in music.  At the end of the game, be the one with the highest score and you win the game.

Karaoke Battle Royale

 We have done a lot of singing competition already for various events and we are running out of ideas actually.  This time for Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2019: Asobu, we are borrowing some ideas from the prolific leader of Team OKE Gakuen – Kap Messi Chan Spears. We are introducing KARAOKE BATTLE ROYALE (Greatest Anime Singing Contest as per Messi)

Battle Royale Details

Karaoke Battle Royale will be composed of a maximum of 30 contestants.  There is no audition and all you have to do is register online and confirm at the event venue on Mary 19, 2019 (Sunday).  Those who register and will not show on the event will be perpetually banned in future competitions.

There will only be 1 winner in this exciting competition.

Mechanics and Rules:

  1. Upon confirmation at the event venue, all participants will draw a number from 1-30 which will be their order of performance.
  2. Entry #1 must outscore all 29 contestants or have the four highest score after the contest in order to make it to the Finals
  3. The spot of registered contestants cannot be taken away by other nonregistered contestants.
  4. They can only perform ONCE onstage, except if technical issues would occur)

Karaoke Battle Royale Song of Choice

  1. Songs can be performed are Jpop only, until after first chorus (or 90 seconds, TV size).
  2. Japanese translated songs are allowed to be performed.
  3. A contestant will pick 5 songs, and their first song choice will be performed. If their song is already taken, they will perform the next song as long as it not yet taken.
  4. Song choices of contestants will not be revealed prior to the competition.
  5. Once the song of choice had been submitted upon registration it can no longer be changed.

Judging of the Competition

  1. Contestant’s score will be displayed after their performance, and it will be ranked starting from the highest score.
  2. There will be a selected panel of judges (8-10 judges) that will score their performance from 0-10. All of their score given will be combined, and this will be the contestant’s score throughout the contest.
  3. The contest will commence until all 30 contestants have performed. (There will be a break every after 10 contestants).
  4. In case of a tie in 4th place, they will perform a pre-determined song. Judges and the audience will pick the winner.
  5. Top 4 contestants will face off in the final round, where they will sing a full Jpop song later that night. Scores will be based on 100% criteria.
  6. The winner of the Final Face-off will win the competition and get a CHICKEN DINNER.

Cosplay Championship League (CCL) at POF 2019

Cosplay Championship League (CCL) will be part of Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2019: Asobu.  This experimental, ranking based cosplay competition is inspired by online MOBA games and with the aim to bring a competition that includes all cosplayers.  Through CCL we want to encourage every cosplayer to once again go on stage, show their awesome cosplay to everyone and reward them for their efforts.


There will be 3 categories for the competition with 2 winners each for male and female.

  • Bronze Division: Newbie Cosplayers and Open for All. This includes those who have not won any cosplay competition in the last 5 years,  and had been cosplaying from 0-3 years.
  • Silver Division: Intermedia Cosplayers and Crafters. This includes cosplayers who have won in any event at least once and/or those who had been cosplaying from 4-5 years. Crafters who have not won any cosplay competition is also included in this division.
  • Gold Division: Experienced Cosplayers and Crafters. This includes those who have won at least 3 cosplay competitions or have won once in a major cosplay competition (Cosplaymania, AsiaPop Comicon, APCC, ToyCon, Cosplay Idol and WCS).

Fantasm Inter-School Cosplay Competition

We are bringing back FANTASM COSPLAY CHALLENGE.  In this cosplay competition you cosplay as realisitically as possible and impress the judges.  This time we are bringing FANTASM INTER-SCHOOL.  Invite your classmates, inform your school and be part of this exciting new competition. in order to win BE AS CLOSE TO THE CHARACTER AS POSSIBLE ON AND OFF THE STAGE.

It is a timely competition because we also launched our first Fantasm Cosplay Challenge at Robinsons Place.

Fantasm Inter-School Basic Mechanics

  1. This cosplay competition is open to all students currently registered and enrolled in their school for SY 2018-2019. Alumni are disqualified.
  2. This is open to all schools nationwide High School, Senior High School and Tertiary.
  3. You need to form a team of 3 representing your school.
  4. We will only accept up to 20 schools and as soon as they are registered it will be posted here.
  5. Each team member will have to perform and cosplay individually.
  6. This is not a group cosplay competition.

Rules and Mechanics for the Competition

  1. There is no categorization for this cosplay competition.
  2. There will be NO ONSITE REGISTRATION.  Pre-registered participants are required to confirm at the event date and venue from 10am up to 2:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
  3. All cosplayers are required to submit 3 printed copies of their characters reference photo in detail and 1 BGM/VBG. (Failed to submit requirements will have a 10 point deduction on total judges score).
  4. Cosplayers are required to fill out the form honestly specially as regards the make of their costume and who made it.
  5. Each will be given a total of one (1) minute stage performance. (Cosplayer that exceeds the time will have a 10 point deduction on total judges score)
  6. Cosplayers are advised to be in costume at least an hour before the competition starts.
  7. Cosplayers should be in the holding area at least 30 minutes before the event starts.
  8. Acceptance is on a FIRST COME-FIRST SERVED basis.
  9. All competitors will be asked to read the Rules and Mechanics and sign that they have read and understood
  10. Dangerous stunts, metal props and other dangerous objects or props will not be allowed and will result to automatic disqualification of the cosplayer.
  11. In case of destruction or damage due to a contestants cosplay act, the cosplayer will be the one to answer for the said damages.
  12. The decisions of the judges are final.
  13. If you have any complaint please watch out for our feedback form or drop it at the suggestion box/feedback box that we will deploy during the event.
  14. Winners should be present during the awarding ceremony and if not they will forfeit their slot to the next in line.

Fantasm Inter-School Cosplay Qualifications

  1. All character from any genre be it Western or Japanese are welcome to join (comics, anime, movie, manga, game, toy, etc,)
  2. Any type of costume are welcome, be it cloth, rubber sheet, fiber or others.
  3. All National Officers of Naruto Cosplayers PH are disqualified from joining the competition and this includes not only the Top 4 main officers but everyone including Chapter Presidents.
  4. No member of the staff or organizing committee will be allowed to participate in the cosplay event competition.

Judging Details for Fantasm Inter-School

  1. There will be judges per each criteria.
  2. Judges for this competition will be selected based on their knowledge and expertise to judge the particular criteria.
  3. All Judges will be asked to sign a Judge Contract and Agreement and this include the random audience judges too.
  4. The judges will only be concentrating on the criteria which he/she is assigned.
  5.  Seventy percent (70%) of the score for the school winners will be determine from the following criteria for judging:
    • COSTUME – 25% – how similar the costume is to the original character and to the reference photo submitted.
    • REALISM – 25% – how realistic the portrayal of the character is.
    • ENGAGEMENT – 25% – how engaging the character is with the people at the event and with other characters.
    • DIFFICULTY – 25% – how difficult the chosen character is.
  6. Thirty percent (30%) of the score for the school winners will be determined by the number of votes for the school as measured by their attendance during the event.
  7. These criteria is applicable not only on stage but also off the stage.
  8. The total for each school entry will be added up and will form the total score for the school.

Fantasm Inter-School Winners

There will be a total of 4 winners.

  1. Fantasm Inter-School Cosplay Award: highest total school score..
  2. 1st Runner-Up: 2nd highest total school score.
  3. 2nd Runner-up: 3rd highest total school score.
  4. Best Cosplayer: The cosplayer with the highest score and voted by the majority of the judges.  This may mean that he is not necessarily the highest but he was acknowledge as worthy to be the winner based on the criteria for the competition.  To confirm the winner the judge uncharged of that criteria must confirmed and seek the approval of the majority of the judges.
  5. Decision of the Judges is final and irrevocable.

FurryPinas 2018 Cosplay Winners Joins Cosplay Idol Finals

The winners of the first ever The Great Furry Cosplay Contest at FurryPinas 2018 will join the Cosplay Idol Finals.  The Season 4 Finals will be on June 3 at Ayala Malls Fairview Terraces.  Veteran cosplayer and crafter Guy Singson, and Isamu Sichirou, one of the most winningest cosplayer this year and last year were the winners.

The Great Furry Cosplay Competition

It is the first ever cosplay competition of its kins was a cosplay competition is themed with regards to the Furry fandom.  Anthropomorphic characters and their representation were the only once allowed to participate.  Guy Singson cosplayed Garo or sometimes referred to as the “Fanged Wold.”  His cosplay is based on a Japanese tokusatsu television series broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 7, 2005, to March 31, 2006, lasting 25 episodes.  The television series is the first installment of the “GARO” franchise, which is composed of several installments, including a live-action television series, films, TV & film specials, and anime series.

Isamu Sichirou (2nd Place)

Isamu Sichourou, who won 2nd Place cosplayed Wukong.  Wukong is probably one of the most popular characters from Chinese legends which is fairly present in the most popular games and movies.  In addition, you can find this character in games like Arena of Valor, League of Legends, DOTA 2 and more.  Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a fictional figure who features in a body of legends, which dates back to the period of the Song dynasty.   He appears as the main character in the 16th century Chinese classical novel Journey to the West.


Besides Garo and Wukong there are also other exciting cosplays during The Great Furry Cosplay Competition at Furry Pinas 2018 including a group Furry performance plus another interesting character, Dragon Knight from DOTA 2.

Cosplay Idol Finals Season 4

Guy Singson and Isamu Shichirou join elimination winners from Bulacan and Greenhills in one of the most anticipated finals in the Cosplay Idol series.  This year the judges will all be resident judges of the competition plus parents of the winners of Cosplay Idol Season 1 and Season 2.  Isamu is not new to Cosplay idol since he was a finalist during Season 3.  For Guy this will be his first time in the finals and being a veteran cosplayer his cosplay and performance will surely be one of the most anticipated.

The Cosplay Idol Finals Champion for Season 4 will receive P3,000 Ayala Malls Electronic GC while the Cosplay Idol Season 4 Runner-Up will receive  P2,000 Ayala Malls Electronic GC.

Huion and ATI On-The-Spor Digital Drawing Contest at POF 2018

In partnership with Huion and American Technologies Inc. (ATI) we are launching a DIGITAL DRAWING CONTEST at Pinoy Otaku Festival (POF) 2018: Ai. The art contest will be held for 2 days with the winner being announced on the second day.  In order to provide a higher level of tools, the contest will be using Huion Drawing Tablets provided by ATI.

Please read the rules carefully.


A. Basic Rules

  1. The THEME of the Art Contest will be LOVE (Ai or PAG-IBIG).
  2. The contestant will be limited to 40 contestants per day.
  3. Those who pre-register online will be given priority on registration and just needs to confirm their registration until 12 noon on June 2 and until 1:00pm on June 3.
  4. There will also be onsite registration 10:30 AM – 12:00 NOON on June 2 and 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM on June 3.
  5. The contest is open to contestant of all ages.
  6. Professional artists are disqualified from joining the competition. We will seek the advise of Graphics Artists Philippines (GAP) on determining this.
  7. Each contestant will be given an hour to complete their drawing.
  8. In case of shortage of drawing tablet the contestant can be scheduled by batches.
  9. Judges will consist of representatives from Huion, ATI and GAP.
  10. Winners will be announced on June 3, 2018 (Sunday).
  11. There will be 1 winner of a brand new Huion Drawing Tablet courtesy of Huion and American Technologies, Inc.

B. Medium of Drawing

  1. This will be a digital art contest.
  2. Drawing tablet will be provided by Huin and ATI.
  3. There will be a Digital Art Workshop for all contestants prior to the actual contest. All contestants must join.
    * June 2: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
    * June 3: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  4. Failure to join the workshop will make you disqualified for the competition.

The Champion of the POF 2018 Art Contests brings home a brand new Huion Drawing tablet.
